What Plane covers beyond your salary and health insurance: the things that make the work easier, sharper, and more enjoyable.
Your setup
When you join, you get:
- A MacBook, spec'd for the work you do
- Monitor, keyboard, mouse, and any other peripherals you need
- An ergonomic chair and desk accessories, because eight hours a day adds up and your body matters
If something is not working, tell People Operations and we will replace it. You should not be fighting your tools.
Learning & growth
You should be growing every quarter. We pay for what makes you better at your craft.
- Books: buy any book that helps with your work or career and submit the receipt.
- Online courses: Udemy, Coursera, Maven, anything legitimate.
- Conferences: if attending will materially make you better at your job, we sponsor the ticket, flight, and stay. Talk to your manager first.
The bar is simple: you should be able to explain how this makes you better at what you do.
Spending over $100? Check first
For anything above $100, get a quick OK from your manager before you buy. For details, reach out to People Operations.
AI tools
Every team member at Plane gets a generous monthly AI budget. See AI-first for how we think about it. Use it on whatever moves your work forward. The frontier moves fast and we expect you to move with it.
Sports & book club
Two of the easiest ways to actually hang out with the team outside of work. We run an #all-things-sports channel and a #book-club channel on Slack. Jump in, find your people, and Plane covers the costs.
For group sports like box cricket, football turf, or badminton, we reimburse 100% of venue and entry fees, as long as at least 6 Plane employees play and no outsiders are involved. Refreshments, travel, and personal gear are not covered.
For book club, expense the books the group picks up and submit the receipt like anything else.
Just send your receipt to ops@plane.so within 7 days. Reimbursements usually land in your next payroll cycle, typically before the 10th of the month.
Off-sites
The whole team gets out together once a quarter to plan, build, and remember they like each other. People Operations and team leads handle the logistics. If you have ideas (destinations, formats, things to try), bring them up.
Beyond the quarterly outings, we don't ration time together. If you feel you need a break, or your team has earned a proper celebration, plan it with your manager and we will cover the costs.
